Sheriff's Office Volunteer Program
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to volunteer your time working with a progressive law enforcement agency in Solano County? The Solano County Sheriff's Office is excited to announce that we are currently accepting applications for people interested in volunteering their valuable time supporting operations in our office. In keeping with community partnerships, we are opening our doors to the "Sheriff's Active Volunteer Experience." This dynamic group of volunteers will be utilized throughout the Sheriff's Office to assist our staff with a wide variety of jobs and assignments. Areas you may be assigned to include, but are not limited to, Patrol Division (Volunteer Citizen Patrol) Investigations Bureau, Administrative Services, Property and ID, Records and Warrants, Animal Services, and Public Relations. There will be plenty of room for flexibility in the hours that you volunteer to work; however, we do require that you volunteer at least 16 hours every month.

Sheriff's Office Cadet Program
Are you interested in a career in public safety? If you are age 14 – 20, you may be eligible to become a Sheriff Cadet! Being a cadet is both demanding and rewarding. Sheriffs Cadets learn the law enforcement career field in a paramilitary environment at both the Sheriff's Office and the Rio Vista Police Department.
Prepare yourself for hard work, fun, and adventure! Discover qualities within you that you never dreamed you had. Make new friends who share your commitment to caring for the safety of others. Many of our cadets have already grown into careers as police officers, military, and other government service fields.
Requirements:
· Be a minimum of 14 years of age
· Pass an interview, written exam and a physical exercise exam
· Be enrolled in school and possess a minimum 2.0 GPA
· Pass a criminal background check (including fingerprinting)
· Serve a minimum of 16 hours per month
· Attend evening training meetings on the first and third Tuesday of each month
