Consumer & Environmental Crimes

The Solano County District Attorney’s Consumer and Environmental Crimes Unit (CECU) investigates and prosecutes cases involving fraudulent, deceptive and illegal business activity that victimizes Solano County residents and law abiding businesses, threatens public safety or endangers our local environment and natural resources. Our attorneys are part of a statewide network of consumer and environmental prosecutors throughout California and are referral sources for issues or complaints which may be handled in other jurisdictions. See our Consumer Referral List and Consumer Resource Guide.

The CECU will have jurisdiction only if one of the following situations apply:
    a)    A consumer transaction with a company that occurred in Solano County; or
    b)    The company is located in Solano County

If none of these apply to you, please contact the district attorney’s office where you reside, where the company is located, or where the transaction occurred. See List of California District Attorney’s.

Although most cases are developed through law enforcement investigations, the CECU reviews complaints received directly from consumers.

We look for a pattern and practice of unlawful and unfair business activities, and where appropriate, institute informal, civil or criminal enforcement actions. We are prohibited, however, from representing a private citizen who seeks the return of money or other personal civil remedies. See Frequently Asked Questions.

If you have a consumer complaint, you may print a Consumer Information & Complaint Form from this site.  Once completed, please mail, fax, or email the form with your supporting documentation.  Upon receipt of your complaint, we will review the complaint and any supporting documentation. After the review, this office will send you a written response to keep you informed of whatever action, if any, we may take.

The CECU works closely with state and local governmental agencies to enforce state laws and regulations which protect the environment. Environmental crimes are serious and need to be reported.
