| | | 2022 Poll Place ChangesAll voters in Solano County are mailed a ballot for each election and have several voting choices. Voters can return their ballots by mail, at one of the many ballot drop-off locations, or on election day return their ballot or vote at an in-person voting location. The Registrar of Voters office is also open for 30 days of early/in-person voting including election day, providing additional services. Over 90% of voters in Solano County choose to return their ballot either by mail or at a drop-off location vs. voting in-person.
Starting in 2022, with consultation and direction by the Solano County Board of Supervisors, the Registrar of Voters (ROV) is reducing the number of Election Day poll places. The need to reduce locations was identified as a cost saving measure when the ROV recognized that 90% of the voters voting were voting by mail or one of the numerous ballot droop-off locations throughout the county. ROV January 25, 2022 Board Presentation.
The direction received by the Registrar of Voters was to reduce from an average of 100 locations per election to 70 locations (the minimum number required by California Election Code is 43). Going forward, the following number of locations will be utilized (2022 polls):
City | Reg. Voters | 2021 polls | 2022 polls | 100 poll to voters | 70 poll to voters | % cut | Dixon | 11,864 | 4 | 3 | 2,966 | 3,955 | 25.00% | Benicia | 20,403 | 6 | 5 | 3,401 | 5,101 | 33.33% | Fairfield | 64,394 | 20 | 16 | 3,220 | 4,025 | 20.00% | Rio Vista | 7,552 | 2 | 2 | 3,776 | 3,776 | 0.00% | Suisun | 16,974 | 5 | 3 | 3,395 | 5,658 | 40.00% | Vacaville | 58,550 | 27 | 18 | 2,169 | 3,253 | 33.33% | Vallejo | 70,277 | 36 | 23 | 1,952 | 2,928 | 33.33% | All voters will receive at least two notices regarding their assigned polling place if they choose to vote in-person.
