The Solano County Auxiliary Communication Service (ACS) in support of the Solano County Office of Emergency Services (OES) provides trained communications and radio operator resources to Solano County and its communities for use in time of emergency.

ACS supports the Office of Emergency Services philosophy:

"BE PREPARED TO EFFECTIVELY MANAGE ANY MAJOR EMERGENCY OR DISASTER SITUATION THAT MAY OCCUR WITHIN THE SOLANO COUNTY OPERATIONAL AREA”

The ACS program has been put in place by the Solano County Office of Emergency Services to develop a trained cadre of communications professionals and amateur radio operators ready to respond to the emergency communications needs of local cities and Solano County. ACS does this by providing practical and classroom training in emergency preparedness and emergency communications.

Upon acceptance as an ACS member you will also be registered as a volunteer Disaster Services Worker with the State of California.

The skills and certification you earn through participation in the ACS program will provide you with recognition by your community and Solano County as a citizen qualified to assist with communications during an emergency.

ACS provides volunteers with opportunities to meet others interested in emergency communications and to exercise and learn skills related skills.

As an ACS volunteer you may be called upon to fill many public service or emergency communications needs including support of local community events, search and rescue efforts and natural disasters including earthquakes and floods.

ACS volunteers provide support to their local community, (including the Office of Emergency Services and the Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Team (SAR).

WE NEED YOU!

ACS currently needs Radio Operators of all interests located in any Solano County city.

Regardless of your interest in radio; talking with friends, using the local amateur or other service repeater, contesting, packet radio or ATV, ACS can use your talents and put you to work helping communities within Solano County.

While a large number of ACS volunteers are Amateur Radio Operators, you do not have to be one yourself to volunteer.
ACS includes all radio services and volunteers who have an interest in radio regardless of licenses or experience.
We will train you in our methods of operation and provide training to receive your Amateur Radio license should you be interested.

The ACS team meets once a month in Fairfield at the OES Office. Perspective members are welcome to attend a meeting.
