Erosion Control

Winter will soon be upon us and with it comes concerns for the prevention and reduction of the potentially damaging effects of soil erosion. Depending upon the severity of the fire impacts on your property, a variety of resources may have been destroyed ranging from the duff (dead leaves, grasses, and foliage), to completely burned forest canopies. Preparing for the winter rains does not come in a one size fits all option. In some instances, it may be best to allow the land to recover with no assistance, but in some areas the combination of terrain, soil structure, and fire damage may require significant steps to prevent the soil from eroding. Local agencies are preparing to winterize for the creeks, drainages, and roads within the are burned by the LNU Fire and may be able to assist with identified hazards. Whatever your specific situation is, the following resources may assist you with the protection of your property from the potentially damaging effects of erosion.
