Bring out the creativity in your child!

Creative Genius

A lot happens when a child is creative! They develop skills, habits and attitudes that stay with them throughout their lives.

Here are some suggestions to inspire your child’s creativity:

Have materials readily available for children to create works of art. Keep the usual crayons, glue and scissors in an area that stimulates creativity but don’t forget to include materials that are easily found around the house like old newspapers, scraps of fabric, and cardboard boxes.

Encourage imaginative play by allowing children to create their own games and follow their impulses.

Music, art and dance are also ways to help children be creative. Encourage children to sing, dance and play musical instruments.

Allow children to learn and explore on their own. When children are being watched as they work, they are less likely to be creative.

Limit TV and other screen time in order to make room for creative activities like dramatic play, learning to draw, and reading.
