PROPERTY TAX REFUNDS

Dear Taxpayers of Solano County:

There are three types of refunds issued by my office: 

• Secured Refunds - are those issued to taxpayers due to a reduction in the assessment of secured property resulting from a correction made due to an error, appeal or event as determined by the Assessor.  Examples of Secured property are land and structure, which include but are not limited to residential property or an office building.
• Unsecured Refunds - are those issued to taxpayers due to a reduction in the assessment of unsecured property resulting from a correction made due to an error, appeal or event as determined by the Assessor.  Examples of Unsecured property are machinery or equipment primarily used in a business.
• Supplemental Refunds - are those issued to taxpayers due to a reduction in the value of a Secured property resulting from a sale or calamity.  Examples of Supplemental refunds are those created by the current economic condition caused by the declining home values.

We issue refunds on a monthly basis. If you received a refund issued by my office, in all likelihood it is one of the three types enumerated above.
