Building & Safety Division
The Solano County Department of Resource Management and the Building & Safety Division have a detailed list of submittal requirements for building permits available here: Minimum Submittal Guide
Page 3 of the Minimum Plan Check Submittal Requirements lists requirements for dwellings that are also applicable to accessory dwelling units, duplexes, multifamily dwellings, mixed-use projects with a residential component, and townhomes. Minimum setbacks to all property lines shall be at least 10 feet, with additional setback requirements determined by the Solano County Planning Division – contact planning@solanocounty.com or 707-784-6765 for additional zoning and setback information.

A multifamily unit is defined in the California Building Code as an apartment building with 3 or more dwelling units, condominiums with 4 or more dwelling units, etc. Solano County has to date not issued any building permits for this type of structure. A townhouse is defined in the California Building Code as a single-family dwelling unit constructed in a group if three or more attached units in which each unit extends from the foundation to roof and with open space on at least two sides.
