Special Weapons and Tactics

The Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team (Special Weapons and Tactics) is a multi-agency, specialized unit comprised of tactical operators.  Members are specifically trained and equipped to bring resolution to critical incidents that are so hazardous, complex, or unusual that they may exceed the tactical abilities of our first responding law enforcement officers. Team members are expected to be proficient in a variety of weapon platforms in dynamic environments.  The team trains for incidents on land or water and in inclement weather and low light situations. The team works and trains with the Sheriff’s Office CNT (Crisis Negotiation Team) and Tactical Dispatch Team.

The duties of the SWAT team include but are not limited to, hostage rescue, barricaded suspects, active shooters, terrorist acts, dignitary or witness protection, and other situations which require a high level of tactical intervention.
