F.B.I. Safe Streets Criminal Gang Task Force

The Solano County Sheriff’s Office and local law enforcement agencies have joined the Federal Bureau of Investigation to implement a Safe Streets Criminal Gang Enforcement Task Force in Solano County.  Each member agency provides a dedicated officer to work on the Task Force.  Supporting equipment and overtime funding is provided by the F.B.I. and additional funding in the amount of $300,000 is provided by the Solano County Board of Supervisors.  Members of the team are tasked with gathering intelligence to identify criminal gang activity and criminal gang members in Solano County, ultimately interfering with the gang’s ability to operate.  Additional intelligence is provided by Sheriff’s Office correctional officers assigned to the Custody Gang Unit and the individual investigative units of each member agency.  Members of the Task Force have been deputized as Deputy United States Marshals, providing them the authority to charge violation of federal statute in a Federal Court.  The F.B.I. Safe Streets Criminal Gang Enforcement Task force is an excellent example of how federal and local law enforcement agencies can work together and share resources in support of safe communities.
