Cassandra James - District 1 Supervisor

Cassandra R. James (she/her/hers) sits on the Solano County Board of Supervisors, serving nearly 93,000 Vallejoans in Solano County’s First District—Greater Vallejo, which encompasses two-thirds of Vallejo. As Supervisor, she is committed to ensuring all residents have the opportunity to thrive by fostering equity and advocating for resources that address the community's diverse needs.

Supervisor James brings a wealth of experience from her more than a decade of service with the City and County of San Francisco. During this time, she worked tirelessly to support vulnerable populations, including unhoused individuals and economically low income (ELI) residents, ensuring they had access to housing stability and vital safety nets. Her advocacy began over 20 years ago when she was appointed to the San Francisco Youth Commission, where she championed economic justice for historically excluded communities, empowering them to define what thriving means for themselves.

In Vallejo, Supervisor James continued her dedication to housing equity and community development. She served on the board of Vallejo Together and as vice chair of the Vallejo Housing and Community Development Commission, influencing policies to address local challenges. She also represented the First District on the Redistricting Advisory Board and served on various other boards, working to amplify community voices and drive systemic change.

Elected as the first millennial to represent the First District on the Solano County Board of Supervisors, Supervisor James has made history through her leadership. She considers her greatest accomplishment to be nurturing the next generation of Vallejo through the profound joy and responsibility of raising her sons.

Supervisor James holds three Associate Degrees from City College of San Francisco and a Bachelor’s Degree in Politics, Economics, Policy, and Law from Mills College. Her lifelong dedication to public service reflects her unwavering commitment to advocacy, equity, and empowering communities to reach their full potential.
