Facilitated Self-Assessment Workshops

Facilitated Self-Assessment workshops are a team approach to assessing internal controls of a specific department process.  As the title implies the unique aspect of a control self-assessment is that the team includes managers and staff responsible for the process under review.

The facilitated workshops allow department personnel to assess controls and determine control effectiveness and any corrective action necessary.

A department can benefit in several ways from a facilitated workshop, including but not limited to:

  • Confirmation that strong controls are in place to ensure department objectives are achieved.
  • Ability to perform a thorough self assessment of controls on your own.
  • Improved staff knowledge and understanding of internal controls.
  • Reduced instance of audit findings.

County departments can request a self assessment workshop to be facilitated by the Auditor-Controllers's Internal Audit Division.  To request a facilitated workshop or additional information on the process contact the Internal Audit Division
