Sergeant Rex Hawkins began his career in law enforcement career with the Vallejo Police Department in 2015. He then joined the Benicia Police Department in 2016 where he worked numerous assignments to include Patrol, Field Training Officer, Range Instructor, and Less Lethal Instructor.  He also served on the Solano County Sheriff’s Office Regional SWAT Team.  

In 2019, Hawkins lateraled to the Solano County Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy and worked a variety of assignments to include Bailiff, Patrol, Field Training Officer, SWAT operator, and Public Information Officer.

In 2022, Hawkins was promoted to Sergeant and supervised three patrol teams, Courts, Recruiting, the SWAT Snipers, and currently serves as the Public Information Officer. He has also served in the US Air Force and US Air Force Reserves as a KC-10 Maintainer and Flight Engineer for 25 years.
