Captain Professional Standards
Captain Denton Autry began his law enforcement career in 1995 with the Suisun City Police Department. In 2004 he was hired by the Solano County Sherriff’s Office as a deputy. Throughout his career, he has worked numerous assignments which include Patrol, Bailiff, Field Training Officer, Motor Officer, Investigations, SWAT, and HNT. While working in investigations, Denton completed extensive course work in the Robert Presley Institute of Criminal Investigation (ICI) and has obtained certificates in both specialized areas of Homicide Investigation and Domestic Violence Investigation.
Denton was promoted to Sergeant in December of 2006. As a sergeant, he supervised patrol teams, COPPS deputies, bailiffs and detectives. He lead the Hostage Negotiation Team (HNT) for several years and completed the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership program, class 318, in 2013.
In December of 2012, Denton was promoted to Lieutenant. During his tenure as a Lieutenant, he managed Investigative Services which included Investigations, the Sheriff’s Office narcotic team, and the Sheriff’s Enforcement Team (SET). He has also managed Marine Patrol, Courts, Transportation, and Civil during his tenure as a Lieutenant.
Denton was promoted to Captain in December of 2015. He has managed the Custody Division which includes the county’s three jail facilities and the Field Operations Division. He is now assigned to the agencies newest division, Compliance and Professional Standards.
Denton has a four-year degree in Information Systems / Management from University of Phoenix and a two-year degree in Criminal Justice from Solano Community College. Denton completed the POST Command College Program in July of 2017 and he holds numerous professional certificates from the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards in Training and is currently working toward completing his masters.
