Docent-in-Residence Weekend: Nature and History Walk at Lake Solano Departments - Resource Management - Parks
Location: Lake Solano County Park 8685 Pleasants Valley Rd., Winters, 95694
Join a free, guided nature walk at Lake Solano Park on Saturday, August 31, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM. It’s sure to be a fun and educational experience for all ages!
Lake Solano volunteers Cricket Kanouff and Kitty Van Newkoop will lead this two hour, easy-paced tour. Walk back through the mists of time to discover how Putah Creek was transformed into Lake Solano, bringing water to farmers and residents of Solano County. Learn about the native trees and plants, and the wildlife that calls the park home! Look for great blue herons, snowy egrets, peacocks or other wildlife on the tour. Your guides will also show you what the resident beavers have been up to!
The presentation is free, and parking is only $8 per vehicle, payable at the east entrance of the Park, on the other side of Pleasants Valley Road. No RSVP is necessary. For questions in advance, call Alli, Education Program Manager, at Putah Creek Council, 530-795-9000.
This tour is a great opportunity to have fun, learn, and get fresh air and exercise. Be prepared for variable weather and trail conditions by bringing water, wearing sturdy closed-toe shoes, and dressing in layers.
