April 19, 2016

SOLANO COUNTY – Vietnam veterans, their families and members of the public are invited to celebrate Vietnam War veterans at a special ceremony on Tuesday, April 26 at 9 a.m. in the County Administration Center, 675 Texas Street in Fairfield as part of the regularly scheduled Board of Supervisors meeting.

The Solano County Board of Supervisors is set to present a resolution recognizing the month of April as commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War, acknowledging the more than 58,000 brave American patriots who gave all they had to answer our nations call.

"April marks the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War and to those who served in the conflict we can never say welcome home enough," said John M. Vasquez, District 4 Supervisor.

A United States Marine Corps Color Guard will present the colors promptly at 9 a.m., followed by a salute to the flag, led by Solano County Vietnam veterans.  Veterans are encouraged to sign a “Welcome to Travis Gateway to the Pacific” banner that will also be on display.  Once signed, the banner will return to the Department of Veterans Affairs in Concord where it is housed.
