County adds another convenient way to pay child support

January 12, 2015

SOLANO COUNTY – Starting Jan. 19, parents in Solano County will have another, more convenient way to make child support payments.

The Solano County Department of Child Support Services (DCSS) is working with state DCSS to increase access for parents looking to make child support payments.  By partnering with MoneyGram, parents will now have the ability to quickly and conveniently make cash, debit and credit card payments at more than 60 locations throughout Solano County.

According to Alisha Griffin, the Director of the California DCSS, the partnership with MoneyGram will not only benefit the parents who owe child support, but will translate into more payments for their children.

Parents looking to make cash payments using MoneyGram will need their personal Participant Identification Number (PAR ID) and refer to the group "Receive Code 14630."  MoneyGram charges child support customers a $1.99 convenience fee and payments may take up to three days to post.  For many, this is less than the cost of gas to drive to a child support office.

There are more than 6,200 MoneyGram agents in California with convenient locations in retail outlets including Lucky, CVS, Albertsons, Walmart, Raley's, Bel Air, Food Maxx and 7-Eleven.  For a complete list of MoneyGram locations visit www.MoneyGram.com/locations or call (800) 926-9400.

Parents looking to make payments using debit and credit cards can do so at the Solano County DCSS office, located at 435 Executive Court North in Fairfield at no charge.  The Solano DCSS office, however, does not accept cash payments.  For more information on the new MoneyGram partnership or child support payments, please contact Solano DCSS at (866) 901-3212.
