Be Storm Ready

Winter storms can range from moderate rain and light winds to heavy downpours and high speed gusts. Consider following some of these safety tips to help keep you and your family safe this holiday season.

·         Dress in several layers to keep warm
·         Minimize travel on days of severe weather systems
·         Listen to weather reports and weather advisories to stay up to date
·         Bring pets inside during winter weather
·         Protect your water pipes by insulating them during the winter season
·         Create a disaster preparedness kit and have a family plan on how to use it
·         Keep fresh batteries available for radios and flashlights
·         Never approach a downed power line, it may still be active
·         Never use a generator or BBQ inside as it creates deadly fumes
·         Let your family know you are safe when you are able to do so

Below is a list of locations throughout Solano County for residents to fill and take home sandbags, should they be necessary.  Please note: residents must fill their own bags and bring their own shovels.

CORDELIA FIRE DISTRICT
Corner of Rockville Rd and Suisun Valley Road

DIXON FIRE DISTRICT
Sand bags are located at 205 Ford WaySand is located at the end of Industrial Way (Across from Basalite)

MONTEZUMA FIRE DISTRICT
Jericho Dredging located at 1285 Collinsville Road

SUISUN FIRE DISTRICT
4965 Clayton Road

VACAVILLE FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT
4315 Cantelow Road (English Hills Station)

CITY OF BENICIA
Corporation Yard located at 2400 East Second Street

CITY OF FAIRFIELD
Public Works Corporation Yard – 420 Gregory Street
Southeast corner of parking lot at Allen Witt Park (Enter at Woolner) sand only
Corner of Pittman and Cordelia roads (inside unlocked fenced area)
***all locations have a 10 bag limit

Firehouse -350 Main Street sand bags only

CITY OF SUISUN

CITY OF VACAVILLE

Must bring proof of residence and a shovel

45 Solano Ave. (west of Sonoma Blvd.)
Open 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Oct. - April
