County partners with local public health agencies to conduct emergency preparedness drill

November 18, 2014

SOLANO COUNTY – A countywide drill involving local hospitals, emergency responders and Solano County Health & Social Services' Emergency Services Bureau will take place Thursday (Nov. 20) focusing on a communicable disease.

The exercise gives the County, hospitals (Kaiser Permanente, NorthBay Medical Center and Sutter Solano Medical Center) and emergency first responders the opportunity to practice and improve their response to care for Solano County residents in a disaster or disease emergency situation.

Starting Thurs. morning, patients may present at local hospitals and health care facilities playing the role of a victim with an infectious disease.  This is part of the emergency preparedness drill, designed to test the policies and procedures developed to care for patients that may have emerging communicable diseases, and poses no health risk to the public.

Every year, Solano County’s Public Health Emergency Services Bureau participates in a statewide emergency preparedness drill and leads efforts at the local level.  Last year the drill focused on an active shooter situation.

Questions about the emergency preparedness drill, prior to Nov. 20, may be directed to the Solano County Emergency Services Bureau at (707) 784-8155.  Questions about the drill during the exercise may be directed to the Solano County Office of Emergency Services (OES) at (707) 784-1600.
