Registrar reminds voters to mail in vote-by-mail ballots by Thursday to ensure delivery

October 29, 2014

SOLANO COUNTY – The Solano County Registrar reminds voters to mail in their vote-by-mail ballots by Thursday, Oct. 30 to ensure their on-time delivery.

Voters are also encouraged to mail in or drop off their vote-by-mail ballots early, as it speeds up the counting process on election night.

"We know that voters appreciate the ability to weigh and cast their ballots from the comfort of their own homes at times convenient for them," said John Gardner, Assistant Registrar of Voters.  “If they turn in their ballots early, they can speed up the reporting of election results on election night.”

Vote-by-mail ballots can be returned through the close of the polls at 8 p.m. on Election Day. Vote-by-mail ballots received on Tuesday, Nov. 4 will be counted after the election due to the ballot verification process.

Voters looking for the feeling of dropping off their vote-by-mail ballots in person may do so at the following locations:

- Any city clerk office in Solano County during business hours
- The Solano County Registrars Office during business hours
- Any polling place in the County on Election Day

As in past, the Registrar of Voters will offer curbside drop off of vote-by-mail ballots starting Friday, Oct. 31 during business hours, and will extend business hours to Saturday, Nov. 1 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Registrar also encourages voters going to the polls to complete their sample ballot in advance and bring it with them to the polling place for faster processing.  They should also review the address of the polling place listed on the sample ballot as some polling places have changed since the last election.
