Board to consider appointing District Attorney – elect Krishna Abrams to fill unexpired term

August 10, 2014

SOLANO COUNTY – The County Administrator's Office and County Counsel will recommend the Board of Supervisors amend the current agenda for Aug. 12 to officially accept the resignation of Solano County District Attorney Donald A. du Bain, effective Friday, Aug. 15 at 5 p.m. and to appoint District Attorney-Elect Krishna Abrams to serve for the remainder of the term, beginning Aug. 15 at 5:01 p.m.  This action will be considered at the Board meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 12 at 8:30 a.m. at 675 Texas St. in Fairfield.

At Ms. Abrams request, the Board will consider allowing her to assume office on Friday, Aug. 15 at 5:01 p.m., giving her the opportunity to work side-by-side with a chief deputy to enable an efficient and reasonable transition into the District Attorney’s Office.

The current term of the District Attorney continues until January 5, 2015, with the new term scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.  Under Government Code section 25304, the Board of Supervisors may fill the vacancy by an appointment of a new District Attorney, who will hold the office for the balance of the term.

Krishna Abrams was elected to the office of Solano County District Attorney on June 3, 2014.
