Solano County Exhibit Wins Gold Award at California State Fair

July 14, 2014

SOLANO COUNTY– Year after year the Counties Exhibit is ranked by visitors as one of the most popular attractions at the California State Fair.  With a long history of competition at the fair, the 2014 Solano County exhibit didn't disappoint, taking home its 13th Gold Award for excellence.

The exhibit – entitled "Then and Now," promotes a positive image of the county’s rich agricultural history, industry, recreation and tourism to tens of thousands of Californian’s that visit the fair every day.

The main feature of the exhibit is an old fashioned produce stand, filled with fruits, nuts and vegetables, all locally grown in Solano County.  As is the tradition for Solano County, the exhibit integrates a unique learning environment, including educational brochures, vibrant photographs and a video production – coupled with whimsical displays, friendly volunteers and popular free samples from Jelly Belly.

In addition to the Gold Award, Solano County has a long standing tradition of taking home the “People’s Choice Award,” with more than 10 victories in the past 14 years.  Determined by fairgoers, the award goes to the county with the most votes during the fair’s run.  This year the fair runs through July 27.
