District 3 seeks applicants for citizen advisory boards

SOLANO COUNTY – District 3 Supervisor Jim Spering is seeking applications from individuals residing in his district who are interested in serving in a citizen advisory role to the Board of Supervisors.  Supervisor Spering currently has openings on the Alcohol and Drug Advisory Board, Civil Service Commission, Fair Board of Directors and the Solano County Senior Coalition.

Alcohol and Drug Advisory Board
The Alcohol and Drug Advisory Board (ADAB) ensures that community needs are met regarding substance abuse related issues through prevention, early intervention, treatment and ongoing recovery.  ADAB reviews, evaluates and participates in the planning process, advises the Substance Abuse Administrator and the Board of Supervisors and encourages public understanding of alcohol and other drug problems, thereby ensuring the most effective use of County dollars and services.

Solano County Civil Service Commission
The Solano County Civil Service Commission is an oversight body that ensures the County's Civil Service system operates according to established rules and regulations. Generally, the Commission is responsible for the adoption and modification of the Civil Service Rules, the creation and the modification of class specifications and the hearing of appeals resulting from disciplinary actions or allegations of discrimination. The Commission also plays a role in employer-employee relations with respect to the formation or modification of bargaining units and representation elections.

Solano County Fair Board of Directors
The Solano County Fair Board of Directors helps to provide a safe, family-oriented environment for educational, agricultural, horticultural, mineral and livestock production, domestic arts and entertainment experiences all year-round.  These events, exhibits and experience are all designed to celebrate the accomplishments of our diverse and multi-cultural community.  The Fair Board of Directors will also be working to streamline and address current trends to make the fair even more successful.

Solano County Senior Coalition
The Solano County Senior Coalition is a forum that is designed to help improve and enrich the lives of seniors living in Solano County, including the promotion of public awareness of issues affecting seniors.  The Coalition is charged with helping seniors locate and access resources available to them, recommending improvements in services affecting seniors, encouraging the facilitation of community support of seniors, the establishment of priorities to help better facilitate the integration of services within Solano County and to provide advice and recommendations to the Solano County Board of Supervisors.
