First 5 offering grants up to $20,000 each to address the needs of children ages zero to five in Solano County

April 3, 2019

SOLANO COUNTY – First 5 Solano has released a request for applications for annual grants with up to $20,000 per grant available to address the needs of children ages zero to five, their parents/caregivers, and/or providers of services to children ages zero to five in Solano County.

The purpose of the annual grants program is to provide an opportunity for the First 5 Solano Commission to consider grant requests that fill community gaps, pilot new or innovative ideas, or address time sensitive community needs. The funding is also intended to help support the startup of projects and programs that can become sustained in the community.

"This grant gives innovative programs in our community an opportunity to start something that could grow into a much greater sustainable project and will be around to support children and families for a lifetime of learning", says District 1 Supervisor Erin Hannigan and Chair of First 5 Solano Children and Families Commission.

All projects proposed for the Annual Grants Fund must support First 5 Solano's mission to promote, support and improve the lives of young children, their families and their communities.

A total of $200,000 is available for July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2020. The limit per annual grant is $20,000. Applications will be accepted through May 1, 2019 until 5 p.m.

First 5 will host an optional applicant workshop on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 starting at 1 p.m. at the County Events Center, Conference Room B, located at 601 Texas St., in Fairfield.  For more information, including the Request for Applications and the Application form, visit www.First5Solano.org.
