April 18, 2017

SOLANO COUNTY – Everyone is welcome to join the Solano County Department of Health and Social Services, Behavioral Health Division, Wellness Recovery Unit at the upcoming suicide education and prevention event on Tues., May 9 at 2101 Courage Drive, multipurpose room, in Fairfield from 6 – 8 p.m.

The event will feature a talk by Gordon Doughty Jr. from the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.  Doughty will present some of the latest research and data on suicide, including recognizing the signs of suicide and what we can all do to help prevent suicide in Solano County.

"Suicide is the most preventable death there is, yet, it continues to happen in our community, causing extreme pain and anguish to the families and loved-ones left behind," says Rachel Ford, Consumer Affairs Liaison with Solano County Health and Social Services.  “Our goal is to create a safe and supportive environment where family members can come together to get the help and resources they need.”

The suicide prevention event may contain material that is not appropriate for children under the age of 15.  Please note that no child care will be available.  A light supper and refreshments will be served.

For more information about the suicide prevention education event, including ADA accommodations and language assistance, contact Rachel Ford at (707) 553-5735 and [email protected].
