In-Home Support Services is recruiting for paid caregivers to provide services for seniors and the disabled

February 27, 2017

SOLANO COUNTY – The Department of Health and Social Services, In-Home Support Services (IHSS) Public Authority invites everyone to attend caregiver recruitment sessions for qualified individuals to become paid caregivers for seniors and the disabled here in Solano County.  The next recruitment session is this Wednesday, March 1 at the Health and Social Services clinic at 2101 Courage Drive in Fairfield.

The Public Authority uses a customized database to match the needs of Solano County IHSS clients with pre-qualified Registry Home Care Providers.  Currently there is a need for more caregivers, as the demand for services continues to grow.

"We use a customized database to match the needs of IHSS consumers with pre-qualified Registry Home Care Providers," says Teri Ruggiero, Public Health Authority Administrator.  “Our recruitment sessions help build this database of caregivers who are looking to provide in-home support to the elderly and the disabled in the safe and comfortable setting of their home.  These individuals are passionate about working with people with special needs, and enjoy the flexibility of setting their own schedules.”

The primary purpose of the Solano County IHSS Public Authority Registry is to provide pre-screened, qualified caregivers to IHSS recipients.  Currently the Registry is seeking caregivers who meet the minimum following criteria, including the ability to provide a government-issued photo identification card, pay for a criminal background check, have reliable transportation to get back and forth to work and to transport IHSS clients, have a high degree of flexibility in their work schedule, willing to assist clients with personal care needs, professional communication skills, access to a phone and email and complete an application with at least two positive references.

“Everyone is welcome to attend the recruitment sessions,” says Ruggiero.  “No appointment is necessary, simply show up.”
