Registrar to reissue some ballots due to printing error

October 14, 2016

SOLANO COUNTY – Due to a printing error, the Solano County Registrar of Voters is reissuing approximately 4,700 vote by mail ballots and 30,000 sample ballots to poll voters registered voters in Fairfield early next week.

Vote by Mail Ballots
Approximately 4,700 registered voters who Vote by Mail will receive a replacement ballot early next week.  The original ballot was missing the offices of the City of Fairfield, including the City Council, City Clerk and City Treasurer.  The replacement Vote by Mail ballot contains all of the corrected offices.

Voters should use the new ballot cards they receive and destroy the old ones.  Voters who have already cast their vote should complete the new ballot cards and send them in.  The new ballot cards have been flagged by the ROV, ensuring only one ballot will be counted.  Voters who do not send in the replacement cards will have their first ballot counted.

Poll Voter Sample Ballots
Approximately 30,000 registered voters who vote at the polls will receive a new sample ballot early next week.  The original sample ballot book was missing Proposition 58 and the City of Fairfield offices.  Of the 80 pages in the voter guide, only the sample ballot pages were incorrect.  All candidate statements and measures, including arguments and rebuttals are correct.

"The County apologizes for the error and any inconvenience and confusion this may have caused," says John Gardner, Assistant Registrar of Voters.  “This second ballot and the new sample ballots are being sent to voters at no additional charge to the County.”

In addition to the new ballots, the Registrar reminds voters of some upcoming deadlines, including:

- October 24, 2016 – Last day to register to vote
- November 1, 2016 – Last day to send Vote by Mail ballot to a voter by mail
