How do I donate to the Animal Shelter?

There are several ways to donate to the animal shelter.

I've found a lost pet. What should I do?

There are two options:

  1. You can surrender the animal to the Animal Care facility located at 2510 Clay Bank Road in Fairfield.
  2. You can keep the animal at your residence. If you choose this option, please make every effort to locate the owner. At a minimum, take the animal to the Animal Care facility or your neighborhood veterinary clinic and have the animal scanned for a microchip. Also, please contact the Animal Care facility (707)784-1356 to report the found animal.

My pet is missing. What do I do?

  1. Check for found animals at PetHarbor.com . Other useful websites include FindingRover.com, LostMyDoggie.com, LostMyKittie.com, and Petfinder.com 
  2. Go to the Animal Care facility at 2510 Clay Bank Road in Fairfield to walk through the kennels and to complete a lost pet report. You can also call the facility at (707)784-1356 to report your lost pet.

What are the current fees?
Adoption fees are set each year by the County Board of Supervisors. Follow this link to see the fees currently in effect. However, the Board of Supervisors has also authorized the Animal Care facility to run several adoption specials throughout the year. Call (707) 784-1356 to see if there is an adoption special in effect when you're ready to look for a pet or check out their Facebook page.

What is the return policy if my pet adoption does not work out?
Within 30 days of the adoption date, the adoptee will receive a refund of the adoption plus license fee. Over 30 days from adoption date, there will not be a refund. It is no longer considered a return and the owner will be required to pay the applicable surrender fees.


When is the Animal Shelter Open?
Tuesday through Friday: 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Closed for lunch 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Saturday: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Closed for lunch 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Closed Sunday, Monday, and all County holidays.


Where can I adopt a pet
The Solano County Animal Care facility is a great place to find a dog or cat in need of a furever home. All animals are spayed/neutered, current with their vaccinations, and microchipped.

The facility is located at 2510 Clay Bank Road in Fairfield.

Hours of operation are Tuesday through Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (closed for lunch 1 p.m. through 2 p.m.) and Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closed for lunch 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.).

Where can I get my pet spayed or neutered?
The Solano County Animal Care facility offers low cost spay/neuter procedures. Follow the link for additional information or call the clinic at (707)784-4720. Fees vary based on procedure type and animal weight. Unfortunately, the Animal Care facility cannot perform procedures on animals weighing more the 75 pounds or over the age of 6 years old.
