Summary of the Tiny Homes Shelter Project

The 2017 Point in Time Homeless Count found that there were 1,232 homeless individuals living in Solano County, of which 132 were living in shelters and 183 were living in some form of transitional housing. 74 percentĀ or 917 individuals were living on the streets or in encampments without shelter of any form. State law allows counties to declare a homeless emergency and suspend regulations that prescribe standards for housing to allow for the use of temporary emergency homeless shelters. The proposed Tiny Shelter Pilot Project would allow five Tuffshed units to be place on County-owned property adjacent to the William J. Carroll building in Vacaville.
